This is a list compiled by me of my personal favourites, throughout the World Wide Web, and will be updated from time to time. After you've finished browsing with my links, come back!
Update 26/8/2000 - I've removed most of the dead links from this page - but a lot of this stuff doesn't relate to my current sort of interests, and I haven't added anything to this for ages. I will probably write a new links page from scratch, but in the meantime, this is what I have to offer!
Update 29/4/2004 - Don't ask me why I still keep this around, but I do. The current links are here but I assume you just came from there... Meanwhile, most of these are probably just wrong.
NB: My actual bookmark file (Netscape HTML version) is on the web. Somewhere. The challenge is to find it. It should be fairly up-to-date, too. If you do find it, let me know :)
Educational and Friend's sites
- Highgate School Physics Department - this is (in my opinion) a great site - I mean it's Physics, so it's got to be, hasn't it...
- Highgate School - this is the official website for Highgate School, although it's not the best, in my opinion.
- William Sowerbutts Website - etc etc etc. (scary opening photo)
- Michael's Website (http://sis.bris.ac.uk/~ma9608/ - dead link) - Not bad for a first site. Take a look at it!

- Ross Clegg

- Hampsterdance.com - A zany site - has to be seen to be believed...
- h2g2 - A huge, sort of, explaining-things website, where you can contribute articles
- Asciimation - this is an amazing site with about 20 minutes of Star Wars IV in 15 fps ascii animation! This site seems to have gone down, if anyone finds its new home, I'd be grateful!

- April-fools - this site contains some hilarious internet-based jokes.
- Computer stupidities - a massive archive of, well, just that.
Music
- Jamiroquai - a favourite; Jay Kays' official home page. If you don't know what Jamiroquai is, try it - you might like it!
- - this superb site has thousands of MIDIs from just about every composer that could be described as classical.
- The Binaural Source - investigate this elegant way of recording 3-d sound, using only 2 channels. No, it's not a joke (unlike the below).
- Instrument Jokes - a massive collection of jokes about musicians of all types.
- - mp3.com is a great resource for music files
- Music & Vision - this classical music magazine is updated daily - well worth a visit..

Search engines
- Google - Well, if I thought Northern Light was good, this is brilliant for quick responses. Being run on Linux it is the fastest engine I've ever used and for this reason is my choice. Northern Light is still good for the more complex searches, though.
- Northern Light - IMHO, this is THE best search engine on the 'net. Allows extremely precise searching by category, so you can exclude all the irrelevant results. Let's face it, most of them are not what you are looking for. Also has a collection of 'premium' information for which you pay a small fee to access.
- Altavista - one of the best search engines
- Ask Jeeves - this site answers questions written in prose
- People.yahoo.com (formerly four11.com) - this is a great resource for finding e-mail addresses
- Excite UK - this has a groovy customisable portal now.
- Infoseek
- Lycos
- Mamma - this returns results from many search engines simultaneously, and ranks them with relevance
- ThomWeb Search - from Lycos this is for searching for UK businesses
- Webcrawler
- Yahoo
Miscellaneous
- Babelfish - taking its name from the character in the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, it can translate several languages automatically.
- Streetmaps - this allows you to get street maps of London areas, and route planners of other areas, by inputting street name, postcode etc. Very good.
The Serious Stuff
- Tomorrow's World (http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/tw/ - link dead) - a slick site with searchable archives of past features, and more...
- New Scientist - Planet Science home page; if you're interested in science at all you must go there!
- The Times - yeah, we know it's a bit big and boring, but when you want quality reporting and news, this is the place to go.
- National Geographic
- Zebra Translations - My mum's partnership, web site design by me!
